by Achille Castiglioni and Pier Giacomo Arco
The beautiful Arco lamp was designed by Italian designer Achille Castiglioni and his brother Pier Giacomo in 1962. Inspired by streetlamps, the lightfixture can illuminate items 8 feet from its base, making it perfect for a dining room table (it can also be dimmed for gentle mood lighting).
The marble base is both stylish and functional, as a counterweight to the light’s arc. The hole in the base is placed so a rod can be threaded through, so the light can be carried by two people (essential as it weighs approx. 70 pounds). Available from Flos, this design classic is sure impress with it’s sheer size and elegant simplicity.
