by Arne Jacobsen
Fine lines, timeless looks, and commercial success are never a surprise when you hear the name Arne Jacobsen whose design legacy is formidable. His Ant chair was originally designed for pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk in 1952.
It rapidly gained popularity after it appeared in the Danish decorative arts museum later that year and today is regarded as a Scandinavian design classic. The ant combines modern minimalism with traditional forms to create a piece both elegant and comfortable. It’s still available 60 years on in both 3 and 4 legged models from the original manufacturer Fritz Hansen.
