Arne Jacobsen’s Series 7 Chair is quite probably the most popular chair in design history with over 7 million units sold by manufacturer Fritz Hansen.
Behind the chair’s design is the manufacturing technology. The lamination technique had been refined in the 1920s but it was Jacobsen whom in 1955 realised the full potential of the technique resulting in the iconic shape of the Series 7.
This Danish Masterpiece is a fine example of truly timeless design. Is it retro, or futuristic? Modern or Contemporary? The Series 7 seems to exist in a state of perpetual stasis. Today this classic chair is available in a variety of colours and finishes from the original manufacturer Fritz Hansen.
