by Eileen Gray
Eileen Gray was an Irish furniture designer, architect and and a pioneer of the Modern Movement. She created the E1027 table especially for the house she designed on the French riviera, also named E1027. The name E-1027 stands for the names of the couple: E for Eileen, 10 for Jean (J is the tenth letter of the alphabet), 2 for Badovici and 7 for Gray.
While it was originally designed as an adjustable bedside table, it is very adaptable and works just as well next to a lounge or dining room. This iconic table was first designed in 1927 and is available from Aram furniture.
