In 1945, the world was going through a state of enormous change and major upheaval. Events unfolded of such magnitude that we can still feel their effects and influence today.
One lesser sung event which still has ongoing repercussions was when Danish designer Finn Juhl unveiled his iconic 45 chair. This midcentury modern masterpiece would become an inspiration to a generation of designers. The big break-through was the visual separation of the seat and back, from the wooden frame. This gave the design a light and airy nature which many have tried to mimic but very few have succeeded in replicating.
Juhl would of course champion the popularity of Danish modern design in America where his name became common currency amongst the elite. The landmark NV45 is still available today from manufacturer One Collection.
