One of the great criticisms of the Modern movement is the lack of diversity amongst its key influencers. In the design world at least, there was Japanese- American Isamu Noguchi who’s contribution to midcentury furniture design easily qualifies him amongst the 20th century masters.
Noguchi’s Prismatic Table uses sheet aluminium folded in reference to Japanese Origami techniques to create a beautiful geometric piece – that not only looks great on its own, but tessellates with more tables to form interesting shapes and patterns.
Originally released in 1952, the Prismatic table has been re-released as of 2002 by Vitra furniture.
