Aarikka Ram
Aarikka is a Finnish family business that was founded in 1954 as a manufacturer of wooden buttons, and Scandinavian wooden designs.
Founder Kaija Aarikka grew up on a farm and loved animals, especially lambs. When looking at a box of wooden beads, Kaija realised that the balls resembled curls, and the design for the Pässi Ram was born.
Since its creation in 1973, the Aarikka Ram has become an iconic piece of Finnish design, and a popular business gift. The sheep has even ended up in the personal collection of Empress Michiko of Japan and members of the band Metallica.
In Finland, the Sheep is a symbol of perseverance (which we need sometimes when writing these descriptions). The Pässi Ram is available from Aarikka.
