Your Instagram account name:
@LuisLuise (Luis und Luise)
Can you tell us your country/city?
My name is Meike, I am 36 years young and live with my boyfriend and son (5) on the outskirts of Düsseldorf/Germany in the greenery. We live in a 110 m² apartment, which I can call my own. It is to a family heirloom and is full of memories. We have a large kitchen, dining room and living room in one place. A bedroom, a children’s room and two balconies. So, there is enough room for three of us.
What inspires you?
My inspiration is the whole beautiful livingblogs in the Internet There are a lot of great apartments all over the world. Also inspiring to me is my “Crazy living” Mama too. From her, I have the love to decorate.
What would your mission statement be for your home?
I don’t have a direct mission statement for my home! I mix various styles and try again and again to make new arrangement.
Name your 3 favourite designers?
My 3 favourite designers are:
First, Rolf Hay: I love Scandinavian Design.
My second Designer is Louis Poulsen. The lamps are so great.
And my last designer is Charles & Ray Eames. They are terrific.
What is the favourite piece of design in your home?
My favourite piece of furniture is my 60’s sideboard. A real eBay bargain. Thanks to the football World Cup. I think I would have paid three times the expense without the Germany game ;).
What’s your favourite room and why?
My favourite place is difficult to establish. It varies with the seasons. In the winter I prefer to sit with a nice glass of red wine in the living room by the fireplace, and read the latest home trends.
In the Summer, I love our large balcony. There, I’m enjoying the Sun, it is great for grilling, or we fill the paddling pool to cool off.
I also love our kitchen, there we cook, laugh, play and have long evenings spent with friends. So as you can see I can hardly decide.
What future plans do you have for your place?
The next purchase is a soil deep window with French balcony in our kitchen.
When not making your home beautiful, what are you spending your time doing?
I spend a lot of time with my little family. We live right by a bathing lake, with many leisure opportunities: sailing, swimming, climbing. I also love city life. I’m happy to dance with friends. There is also a young cultural scene in Düsseldorf , readings, exhibitions, open air events take place.
And finally, what are some of your favourite items:
My favourite items are the pink Acapulco chair, the Hay couch, the slim Sophie lamp, the 60s sideboard and the Louis Poulson lamp Doo-Wop.
