On first viewing, the Ribbon chair presents itself as both innovative and beautiful. What may be surprising is that it’s often regarded amongst the most #comfortable of designer chairs. French designer Pierre Paulin ended his dream of becoming a sculptor by injuring his right arm in a fight. He soon gained an interest in both Scandinavian and Japanese design and would gain attention and fame working for Dutch manufacturer Artifort.
Paulin remains one of the key influential figures of the mid-late 20th Century. His work is timeless and originals are sought after by collectors. The Ribbon chair was released in 1966 and is still manufactured today (along with a matching ottoman) by Artifort.
