by Verner Panton
Verner Panton‘s Wire lamp has a cylindrical wire framework topped by a plastic dome shade. In true pop styling, the lamp itself resembles a lightbulb… now isn’t that a bright idea?
Verner Panton’s futuristic designs often sported Pop and Spaceage influences. This initially confined Panton’s work to “looking 60s” and his work lost popularity during the 80s. Today however his work has taken on a timeless retro quality whilst many 80s designs have failed to escape their era.
This highly collectable Danish piece was brought to market in 1972. Today it’s still available from Verpan.
