Dalu table lamp
When people think about beautiful designs in plastic from the 60’s, a few names spring to mind. Panton and Aarnio top most people’s lists, but a lot of great pieces also came from Italian Architect Vico Magistretti.
Having made a living from standard fair architectural work, Vico made a successful career shift to furniture design in the 60s. His work may not be as famous as some of his Scandinavian contemporaries, but they remain best sellers and many pieces like his Dalu (Dalù) Table Lamp are still produced today. The Dalù was ground breaking for being moulded from a single piece of plastic which makes one draw parallels to the iconic Panton chair. The lamp creates the illusion of being formed from a sphere which has been cut and twisted to form the base.
Released in 1965, the Dalu light is still available today from Artemide lighting.
